Specific Responsibilities
Reporting to the L1 Technical Support Manager the successful candidate
will be responsible for:Hands-on technical support including: Managing
all technical SA staff reporting to the Technical Manager. Ensuring
Wintel / UNIX support coverage available to meet internal client
needs. Tracking and progressing proactive maintenance activities.
Producing regular service delivery metrics. Relationship management
with key internal clients. Providing Wintel / UNIX server
administration. Ensuring support issues are resolved within a timely
manner. Capacity reporting and planning. Acquiring an in-depth
understanding of the supported applications used globally within the
bank.
Participating in the day to day resolution of faults. Participating
and planning staff shift schedules. Receiving support calls from AD
teams on the phone or from automated systems Providing Windows start
of day checks and start of week checks on all global servers Server
reboot checks and remediation Post Application Release support
Technical problem solving Opening and Routing tickets to other teams
at the start of an incident Liaising with the IB CCC control centre On-
boarding productions server using the Automated on-boarding process
Monitoring of Alerts and remediation of incidents Closure of tickets
in a timely manner Checking automated schedules have run and fixing
failed schedules Security & Audit compliance to work with IRM group to
ensure FSA standards are upheld. Service Requests Manage client/peer
support groups change and problem requests via management queue.
Expanding knowledge of systems and applications :Mandatory Technical
Skills (Applicant must meet either Windows or Unix mandatory skills,
with the second technology being desirable).Mandatory Technical Skills

Windows Server: NT, 2000, 2003 Knowledge of Sun, T series, M series
and E series, Fujitsu Prime Power series servers, IBM x series, I
series servers HP DL series and DELL series servers
Programming Languages Shell (sh, ksh), Perl 5.x, awk, sed Knowledge of
SECURITY TOOLS/PROTOCOLS ssh, tcpwrappers, SSH, SSL, nmap, SEOS,
eTRUST, KeON, ESAC Scripting and scheduling tools either CRON, Autosys
and Control M Capacity reporting and planning Performance monitoring
and tuning
Networking protocols:UNIX Skills
Operating System - UNIX: Solaris 8, 9 and 10 Linux: RedHat 2.1, 3 & 4.

3.x & 4 Operating system installations via JumpStart/kick start and
Red Hat network EMC CX-320, NAS and SAN storage solutions VM ware
experience IBM I Series knowledge Programming Languages Shell (sh,
ksh), Perl 5.x, awk, sed.Experience Required: Knowledge gained from a
hands on role within a global organisation. Skills must be current and
include; Minimum of 2 years experience of Windows or Unix server
hardware in a mission critical environment Minimum of 2 years
experience of Windows or Unix server software in a commercial
environment Experience of running a team : Qualifications/Education
Preferred
Microsoft MCSA/E certification or Sun/ Redhat certification Minimum of
degree level education ITIL Knowledge: Personal- Self-starter with
ability to acquire new skills autonomously
